Community Spaces 2024
February 2, 2024

Community Spaces turns 10 this year!

Since its inception, Community Spaces has helped fund 175 local projects with $12.5 million across western Canada that improve or create areas where people come together. South Country Co-op has been fortunate enough to have eight projects impacted by the program over the years:

• Redcliff Bicycle Skills Park in 2016
• Redcliff Scout and Guide Community Kitchen Upgrades in 2017
• Police Point Park Accessibility Upgrades in 2017
• Lethbridge Interfaith Foodbank Co-op Community Kitchen in 2017
• Helen Schuler Nature Centre Outdoor Learning Classroom Renovation in 2019
• Medicine Hat Public Library Co-op Community Developmental Play Space in 2019
• Medicine Hat Foodbank Co-op Community Café in 2021
• Foremost & District Agricultural Society Agriculture Centre in 2023

We want to add more projects to the list and continue to improve the communities around us! If you are part of, or know of, a community-minded project that could benefit from this program, we want you to apply.

In 2024, $1 million in grants between $25,000 - $150,000 will be given to projects in three categories: recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture. For more information about these categories, what projects fall within them, and how to apply, check out Community Spaces. The application period is open from February 1 – March 1, 2024.
