Farm to Fork
There are so many advantages to choosing local and Western Canadian made products at Co-op. A shorter trip from the producer to the grocery store means the product is fresher! The economic benefits of shopping local are circular – when local businesses thrive, so do their communities. And when you’re buying food that’s been grown and produced right here in Southern Alberta, you can expect it to be a high-quality, delicious product.
Co-ops across Western Canada work with local farmers and producers to bring their products from the farm to your fork. Co-op is there every step of the way – from production to the grocery store shelf – providing products and expertise on the farm, helping to create the end products, and introducing it at your Co-op Food Store.
South Country Co-op is excited to launch a new program called Farm to Fork, aimed at giving consumers a look at where their food comes from and how YOU can support #Canadianmade products.
We will be working alongside growers and livestock producers to develop and share #FarmtoFork stories that highlight the cycle from production to consumption. South Country Co-op is deeply rooted in our communities, and our relationship with our growers and producers strengthen our local economies, as well as the Western Canadian economy.
Over the coming weeks, we’re going to share stories from vendors and producers whose products we carry in our stores across our trading area. We hope you watch along and learn more about your local products and gain a better understanding of where the food on your table comes from. Follow along on our social media, and watch for dates and times for free samples!
