Earth Day, Every Day at South Country Co-op
At South Country Co-op, caring for the environment isn’t just something we think about once a year—it’s a daily commitment. As part of our core values, sustainability guides our actions, shapes our programs, and helps us create lasting, positive change in the communities we serve.

Over the past year, we’ve continued to take meaningful steps to reduce waste, support recycling efforts, and make better use of resources. Together with our Team Members, guests, and community partners, we’re proud to share some of the impact we’ve made since last Earth Day:

♻️ Reducing Waste in Big Ways:

• 318,422 kg of compacted cardboard diverted from landfills
• 252,000 kg of fresh food redirected through Loop and local food bank donations

🧡 Supporting Local & Giving Back

• $2 million in-kind local invested in 2024—supporting over 500 local organizations
• $215,000 donated to local organizations in the form of gift cards, community donations and sponsorships 
• $10,000 donated to Fuel Good Day 
• Over $25,000 donated in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation to local mental initiatives and programs
• Over $25,000 donated to local food banks through our Good Buy to Hunger Program
