Reducing Plastic Bags Initiative – effective November 21, 2022, plastic bags were removed from our Retail; this included liquor and gas bars – not just food centres. Prior to removing plastic bags, we incentivized guests to bring their own reusable bags by donating 5¢ per used bag to a local group or organization. Thanks to this program, as of February 2022, we raised $7,194.81 and saved over 239,000 bags from the landfill!

LOOP - 47, 204.25 kgs of waste (food, oils, and organic waste) has been donated to bring South Country Co-op’s total donation to 167,398.55 kgs since implementing the LOOP program in 2021.
