New Commercial Development for South Country Co-op

Canalta has reached an agreement with the City of Medicine Hat to purchase 17 acres of land in the Southlands neighbourhood, which is now being prepared for commercial development in partnership with South Country Co-op.

The development is located at 2501 Strachan Road SE, on the corner of Strachan Road and South Boundary Road, next to the Home Depot in the prominent retail node of Southeast Medicine Hat. It will be anchored by projects by both Canalta and the South Country Co-op.

Canalta will begin planning and construction in 2017 on a Boston Pizza, an A&W, a Canalta branded extended stay hotel and a seniors living complex. Additional tenants will be announced in the upcoming months as there are numerous build-to-suit leasing opportunities available. In addition, South Country Co-op has purchased 3.6 acres, who will build a new convenience store, gas bar, car wash and liquor store on the site.
