South Country Co-op Launches Building Communities Fund
At South Country Co-op, Enriching Lives and Communities is more than a purpose statement — it is at the heart of who we are.
For 70 years, South Country Co-op has proudly supported local initiatives across the communities we serve. Through sponsorships, donations, and community partnerships, giving back has always been part of our DNA. As we looked to the future, one important question helped shape our thinking: How do we make our support more meaningful, more impactful, and more enduring?
The answer became the foundation of the South Country Co-op Building Communities Fund.
This new initiative is focused on improving community health and well-being by helping build spaces where people can gather, form connections, and strengthen the fabric of their communities. Through the fund, eligible projects can apply for capital funding ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 in four key areas:
• Recreation
• Environmental Conservation
• Social Spaces
• Urban Agriculture
The Building Communities Fund represents an evolution in how we give. It builds on the legacy of programs like the former Community Spaces Program funded by Federated Co-operatives Limited and reflects our desire to invest in projects that leave a lasting mark — projects that today’s and future generations can benefit from.
This is about supporting initiatives that do more than meet an immediate need. It is about helping create spaces and places that bring people together, inspire community pride, and contribute to long-term well-being.
Applications for the Building Communities Fund will be accepted during two intake periods each year:
• January 15 — February 15
• July 15 — August 15
During the intake periods there will be a link directing you to the application form.
