South Country Co-op adds 9th Agro Centre
June 19, 2017

South Country Co-op is excited to welcome to the family, the team and clients of Phillips Fertilizer. The “Phillips Connection” with Lomond began nearly 100 years ago, with Lester Haskell (LH) Phillips, and Fertilizer sales had been a part of the business in Milo since 1958. In 1979 Robert Phillips (son of Lester) expanded that wing of their business into Lomond by opening up L. H. Phillips & Sons fertilizer sales at 115 Railway Avenue, which is actually the main street of the village.

This will be South Country Co-op’s 9th Agro location. With Ag locations in Lethbridge, Oyen, Medicine Hat, Brooks, Vauxhall, Barons, Claresholm and High River the Lomond Alberta location of Phillips Fertilizer seemed like a natural fit for the hugely expanding co-operative. Investing in Southern Alberta’s Agricultural Community is positioning South Country Co-op for future success and shows true commitment to the communities in which they reside in.

We see the Agricultural industry as a market poised for huge growth potential. Investments such as this are key to our growth strategy and future success.

“With over 60 years of serving Southern Alberta and over $10.4 million paid back in cash for 2016 we are looking forward to continuing to develop and grow our offerings to the communities we live and work in,” said Mike Clement, South County Co-op Chief Executive Officer.
